This is the Duluth Birding Report for May 14th, 2015 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A SAY'S PHOEBE was found on the 8th by Peder Svingen along the western end of the gravel walking trail at Agate Bay in Two Harbors, but it has not been relocated. Peder also saw a MARSH WREN and a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD in the same area. An EASTERN TOWHEE was seen on the 12th two miles west of Two Harbors along Scenic Highway 61. Two LONG-TAILED DUCKS were seen on the 14th at Lighthouse Point in Two Harbors.

A late-lingering ICELAND GULL has been reported as recently as the 12th by Peder Svingen on the Minnesota side of the Superior Entry. He also saw two THAYER'S GULLS and 750 COMMON TERNS there on the 13th, and two LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS on the 9th. JG Bennett saw a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the 11th at the Park Point Recreation Area.

Recent new arrivals in the area include VEERY on the 7th, GRAY CATBIRD on the 8th, BLUE-HEADED VIREO and CANADA WARBLER on the 9th, UPLAND SANDPIPER on the 10th, CLIFF SWALLOW, BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, BLACKPOLL WARBLER, and BOBOLINK on the 13th, and LEAST SANDPIPER on the 14th.
