This is the Duluth Birding Report for March 3rd, 2016 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

The female-plumaged HARLEQUIN DUCK at Agate Bay in Two Harbors was last reported on the 27th. Jill and Andy Beim saw eight LONG-TAILED DUCKS on the 28th at Agate Bay and six were seen on the 3rd at Burlington Bay. Kevin Manley relocated the WHITE-WINGED SCOTER on the 28th at Agate Bay. A flock of 75 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen on the 3rd in Two Harbors at 10th Avenue and Lake Country Road 2 (4th Street). Renner Anderson saw five LONG-TAILED DUCKS in Castle Danger on the 27th. Jim Peterson saw three SPRUCE GROUSE on the 28th along CR 2 at Greenwood Lake.

A flock of 40 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen on the 27th in the Lakeside neighborhood on the 4300 block of Glenwood Street.

John Richardson saw an adult ICELAND GULL on the 3rd and the first RING-BILLED GULL of the season at Canal Park in Duluth. GLAUCOUS GULLS and THAYER'S GULLS are still being seen at Canal Park and on the ice in the Duluth Harbor.

A brown-colored juvenile and an adult male gray morph GYRFALCON continues to be seen near the Peavey elevator at Connor's Point off US Highway 53 and along Winter Street in Superior. Frank Nicoletti, Clinton Nienhaus and others saw the juvenile bird in the Duluth Port Terminal on the 28th.
