This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, November 15th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

No one has been able to relocate the juvenile BRANT reported on last Tuesday's unscheduled update of this tape. It was found in Aitkin County on the 13th by Craig Mandel on Deer Lake near the town of Malmo. Deer Lake is northeast of the junction of Aitkin County Road 2 and state highway 47.

Also of note was the BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE seen on the 12th in Cook County. This bird was seen along the shore of Lake Superior near Five Mile Rock about five miles northeast of Grand Marais on highway 61.

In Douglas County on the 9th, Susan Wiste saw a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD at the Garfield School playground. It has been seen feeding on the ground and flying between trees and bushes. Garfield is located about 12 miles northwest of Alexandria. Another Mockingbird is also being seen, this one in Duluth around the 100 block of west 9th street.

A SNOWY OWL was in the spruce trees of the municipal campground in Grand Marais, Cook County on the 13th, and an ICELAND GULL was also present in the harbor.

Several scoters can be seen in the harbor area of Duluth. On Mille Lacs Lake in Aitkin County, a SURF SCOTER was seen from at Agate Beach on just north of the Lakeside Resort.

There was an adult THAYER'S GULL on Lake Calhoun on the 11th. This may be the same bird that has been reported here since September.

On November 10th, Oscar Johnson found an immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK at Oak Grove Park in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County.

Finally, there is a NORTHERN CARDINAL visiting the feeder of Dennis Meyer in the town of Big Fork in Itasca County.
