This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday June 26th.
A WILLET and a pair of AMERICAN AVOCETS were at Agassiz NWR in Marshall County on the 21st. On the same day, four American Avocets were found in Big Stone County at two localities: two birds were on the west side of Big Stone County Road 61 just south of highway 28, and two more were about one and a half miles west of County Road 61 on the north side of County Road 54.
Unusual was the reported SWAINSON'S HAWK in Carver Park in Hennepin County on June 21st. It was reported from the Tamarack Trail between the bog and Lake Trail. A singing CERULEAN WARBLER was also in the park along the Aspen Trail between the Oak Trail and the boardwalk. A Cerulean Warbler seen and heard at Camden State Park in Lyon County on June 23rd. Check the bridge that crosses the Redwood River just beyond the entrance to the South Picnic Area.
A EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE was reported from Olivia, Renville County between East Fairview Avenue and East Park Avenue. It has also been seen between 2nd and 4th Streets South.
A GREAT GRAY OWL was seen on the 23rd along Pietz's Road north of Aitkin County Road 18 on a telephone pole a couple of hundred feet past the large wood pile on the east side of the road.
Two very late SNOW GEESE were at Agassiz NWR in Marshall County on the 21st.
