This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, July 3rd 2008.
The most interesting report of the week was the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE seen in Hennepin County on July 2nd. Bill George found it at Lafayette Bay of Lake Minnetonka.
LEAST SANDPIPERS were in Beltrami County on the 30th, perhaps signaling the start of the fall migraion.
The only other report of note is the continued presence of a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT at William O'Brien State Park in Washington County. It's being seen along the Wetland Trail in the northern part of the park. Drive just beyond the park entrance and turn right at the "T" then right again on the dirt road leading to the athletic fields. Park here and walk the Wetland Trail west for about half a mile. The chat frequents the north side of the road from the small overhanging elm tree to the bend in the road toward the southwest.
The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, July 10th 2008.
