This is the Minnesota Birding Report for November 10th, 2011.
A GYRFALCON was reported from Hawk Ridge in Duluth on November 3rd.
Paul Johnson photographed a CAROLINA WREN on November 6th at his feeder on the outskirts of Pine City in Pine County.
Jim Lind found the first TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE of the fall season on the 9th. It was in Duluth Township along West Knife River Road about a third of a mile west of Homestead Road.
Doug Kieser reports that at Taconite Harbor in Cook County, he found BLACK SCOTER, WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, and SURF SCOTER on November 7th.
On the 6th, Paul Budde found two THAYER'S GULLS on Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis.
More than 5800 SANDHILL CRANES were still on the Sherburne NWR in Sherburne County on the 10th. And two very late TREE SWALLOWS were seen near the refuge headquarters on the 8th. A FIELD SPARROW was lingering at Hyland Park Reserve in Bloomington on the 7th. And Judd Brink reported a SPOTTED TOWHEE at a home on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Itasca County on November 9th.
