This is the Minnesota birding report for Thursday October 15th sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

On October 14th, Karl Bardon discovered a second-year LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL on the Minnesota side of the Superior entry of Park point in Duluth, St. Louis County.

Tony Hertzel reported two PACIFIC LOONS on Mille Lacs Lake on October 11th. One bird was seen 3.4 miles south of U.S. highway 169 along Mille Lacs County Road 35. This is likely the same bird reported from near here last week. The other PACIFIC LOON was in the main harbor in the town of Garrison in Crow Wing County. A single SURF SCOTER was also present.

Many people have called to report SNOW GEESE. Birds have been reported from the counties of Clay, Becker, Ramsey, and Dakota. A ROSS'S GOOSE was seen at the Felton Prairie in Clay County on October 12 along with a small group of SMITH'S LONGSPUR.

And Two HARLEQUIN DUCKS were at Rocky Point in Lake of the Woods County on the 11th.
