This is the Duluth Birding Report for Wednesday, April 25th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Since this week's storm, there has been little birding activity, so this week's report is brief.

The most unusual report is of a VARIED THRUSH, coming to a feeder on the Nelson Road,but not seen since last Friday.

Mike Steffes and other observers reported large numbers of RED-NECKED GREBES on Lake Superior over the weekend. 25 LONG-TAILED DUCKS (OLDSQUAWS)were seen on the Lake from Brighton Beach on the 21st. Lars Benson reported TUNDRA SWANS flying over eastern Duluth on the 24th. EVENING GROSBEAKS have been seen at several locations over the past week.

Uwe Kautsch reported GREATER YELLOWLEGS, WOOD DUCKS, AMERICAN WIGEON, and BLUE-WINGED TEAL on the 21st from Homestead Road.

MERLINS are nesting at several locations in Duluth, including near the intersection of 16th and Superior and on 16th Ave East, between 4th and 5th streets.
