This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, May 26th, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

Nine RED-THROATED LOONS were seen past the Sky Harbor Airport on Park Point on the 23rd by Sparky Stensaas, with 3 more seen at Wisconsin Point at the same time. Three PARASITIC JAEGERS were also seen out from the recreational area on Park Point on the 23rd, where two were reported on the 21st. The WESTERN GREBE was still present on the 23rd in the same area. Three SURF SCOTERS were relocated by Jan Green on the 23rd in the Duluth harbor near the rowing club near 36th Street on Park Point. The ROSS'S GOOSE, ARCTIC TERN, BLACK SCOTER, WHITE- WINGED SCOTER, MARBLED GODWITS, and GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL seen in Duluth over the weekend have not been reported this week.

Several NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRDS have been found recently, including one on the UMD campus at St. Marie Street and University Drive on the 24th, one on the west end of Stoney Point Drive and another at the Two Harbors lighthouse on the 23rd, and one at the scenic overlook over Boy Scout Landing in west Duluth on the 21st.

A flock of 24 LONG-TAILED DUCKS was seen on Lake Superior at the Grand Superior Lodge in Castle Danger on the 23rd. A flock of 17 was also seen in Two Harbors at Burlington Bay on the 22nd. A SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was seen on Knife Island in Lake County on the 23rd.
