This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday December 11th.
Jim Lind reported a SPRUCE GROUSE on the 11th along Lake County Road 2, a mile and a half north of the Greenwood Lake landing. He also found a GREAT GRAY OWL two miles north of the White Pine wayside.
Three LONG-TAILED DUCKS were in Burlington Bay in Lake County on the 11th.
A TUFTED TITMOUSE is visiting a feeder in Brown County about three miles west of New Ulm on County Road 27. Please call Denny Martin for directions.
On the 10th, a FRANKLIN'S GULL was found on the west side of Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis. An adult GLAUCOUS GULL was present there on the 8th, while a first-winter Glaucous Gull was found near the west spillway of Black Dog Lake in Dakota County.
On the 8th, a late MARSH WREN was at the Bass Ponds area of south Bloomington in Hennepin County. And a few other lingering species were reported from Carver County including a NORTHERN FLICKER, seen December 8th in the town of Victoria, and a HERMIT THRUSH found December 11th in Chaska.
