This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, February 15th 2007.
The three GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES at the Fond du Lac Resource Management Division office just west of Cloquet in Carlton County were all seen as recently as the 14th.
A GYRFALCON was still west of Hastings in Dakota County on the 15th. Check along 180th Street just east of U.S. Highway 52.
On the 11th, Mark Junghans reported three SPRUCE GROUSE along State Highway 1 about three-quarters of a mile east of the Spruce Road.
On the 15th, the NORTHERN HAWK OWL was still present north of Duluth on the east side of St. Louis County Road 4 about a quarter of a mile north of its junction with Martin Road.
A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was found on the 10th by Denny Martin at the Beaver Creek WMA in southern Fillmore County.
A VARIED THRUSH was reported from the Vanderhaden residence on Airpark Drive in Aitkin, Aitkin County. The bird has apparently been there for a few days. Another VARIED THRUSH has been in the Highland Park area of St. Paul, Ramsey County for several weeks. Though it was initially reported near the junction of Pinehurst and Hamline, it has also been seen as far east as Edgecumbe and Eleanor.
