[mou] Fwd: Red Crossbills

Red Crossbills were heard then seen at 8:25 Monday
morning in the tops of three red pines at 9416 Congdon
Blvd (North Shore Scenic Drive, 1/4 mile SW of McQuade
Safe Harbor).

Their crossed bills were apparent against the
lake-effect hazy sky, with sun at about 90 degrees,
from a distance of about 100 feet.  All appeared to be
adults, both male and female.  There was no white on
any of their wings.  
 
As the flock flew into the top of a jack pine on the
north side of the street, eight birds were counted. 
When last seen, they were flying SW toward downtown
Duluth at about 8:35 am.
