The Philbrook CBC was held January 1st. Philbrook is located in NE Todd County. This is only the 5th year the count has been held. Our previous high had been 31 species, but this year we ended up with 34 species! New species for the count include Northern Flicker, Hoary Redpoll, and the highlight Townsend's Solitaire. Not only new for the count, but the Townsend's Solitaire was a first county record for Todd County. Unfortunately, it could not be relocated the next day.
Other highlights include 2 Goshawks, with 2 separate parties each spotting one. A flock of 8 Pine Grosbeaks. And the most numerous bird of the day-snow bunting! It barely beat out American Crow by a count of 336 to 322.
