Hey birders!

Saturday had some nice conditions for hawk movement in Mankato. Here are the totals from the hawkwatch at Bethany Lutheran College:

52 Turkey
Vultures (ncluding a kettle of 30)
11 Sharp-shinned
Hawks
6 Cooper’s
Hawks
29 Red-tailed
Hawks
33 Broad-winged
Hawks
1 Swainson’s
Hawk
3 Bald
Eagles
1
Osprey
1 Northern
Harrier
2 Peregrine
Falcons
4 unidentified
species

143 birds total for the day! Fall total: 435 birds.

Observed from 11:00-12:30 and again from 1:30-4:00pm.

A pair of Cackling Geese were also seen in a flock of Canadas on Saturday flying over campus.

This morning I had a Pine Siskin fly over on my way to work. That is the first for the fall.

Happy birding!
