At the Hamden Slough NWR, Becker Co., on 8/31, shorebirds recorded included: SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, KILLDEER, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, STILT SANDPIPER, BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, MARBLED GODWIT & COMMON SNIPE. A "Minnesota Birding Weekends" group visited Becker Co. August 25-27 and other interesting birds recorded at Hamden Slough included a Richardson's MERLIN and the AMERICAN BLACK DUCK which spent the summer there.

WARBLERS have been on the move in good numbers over the past week. A total of 19 SPECIES were observed on 8/31 and 9/1 at the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, Becker Co. Some other birds noted to be moving through the area include: BONAPARTE'S GULL, FRANKLIN'S GULL, COMMON NIGHTHAWK, NORTHERN FLICKER, EASTERN BLUEBIRD, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS, SWALLOWS and BLACKBIRDS.

Three BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were observed at the Frazee Treatment Ponds in Becker Co. on 8/27.

During a weekend trip on 8/19-20, Jeannie Joppru reported from Lake of the Woods Co.: NORTHERN GOSHAWK, BROWN CREEPER, SEDGE WREN, ALDER FLYCATCHER, from Roseau Co.: SANDHILL CRANE, and from Pennington Co.: PINE SISKIN, COMMON NIGHTHAWK & EASTERN BLUEBIRD.

Shelley Steva noted OSPREYS in rural Thief River Falls on 8/19-20, a bird that isn't common in that area.
