Three SNOWY OWLS remain at the north end of Hamden Slough NWR. All are most reliably seen mid to late afternoon within 3 miles of the junction of Becker CRs 13 and 14.

There were several reports from the Rothsay Prairie in Wilkin County this week. Dan and Sandy Thimgan reported 1 adult and 1 immature GOLDEN EAGLE there on the 26th. Steve Millard found 9 SHORT-EARED OWLS in the area on the 27th. Other birds reported in the area were ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, GREATER PRAIRIE-CHICKEN and a "surprising" SAVANNAH SPARROW.

Bob O'Connor reports that the SANDHILL CRANE which showed up along the Red River in south Moorhead, Clay Co., in late November is still in the area. It has an injured wing, but seems to get enough hand-outs that it's survived so far.

Kay Hartness reports that the VARIED THRUSH is still being seen daily at their home along Becker CR 29 on the east side of Cotton Lake. There were also WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS in the yard on the 31st.

Just up the road at the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge, the NORTHERN GOSHAWK, that's been seen off and on for the past month, was just west of the visitor center on the 31st and 4 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were at the visitor center feeders the same day.

Tom Smith had two female NORTHERN CARDINALS at his home 3 miles SW of Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, on the 27th.

Carol Parker in Warroad, Roseau County, reported RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, BROWN CREEPER and WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS this past week.
