A pair of VARIED THRUSH were found in Ottertail County this week by Eddy Edwards but the homeowner has not yet given permission for birders to visit so no location was given. Also from Ottertail county RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD , NORTHERN CARDINAL and PINE GROSBEAKS were sighted.

A GREAT GRAY OWL was seen by Gretchen Mehmel along the Roosevelt Forest Road 8 miles north of the Norris Fire Tower on Dec. 10th.

A NORTHERN HARRIER was reported by Joe Gartner near Buffalo River State Park on the 7th.

>From Wetland, Pines, and Prairie Audubon Sanctuary this week Blane Klemek reported 2 GREAT HORNED OWLS, 2 LONG-EARED OWLS, 2 SHORT-EARED OWLS, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, RED-TAILED HAWKS, NORTHERN HARRIERS and a COOPER'S HAWK. 2 MOURNING DOVES, COMMON REDPOLLS, DARK-EYED JUNCO, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH, WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH, DOWNY WOODPECKER, HAIRY WOODPECKERS, and BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEES were at the sanctuary feeders. Also reported there by Dorothy Russell were PINE GROSBEAK, and BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE.

In Polk County this week the Thoreson's reported a SNOWY OWL near Eldred, and PILEATED WOODPECKER, COMMON REDPOLL, AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, and SNOW BUNTING near their home .

>From Norris Camp, Gretchen Mehmel reports WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, PINE GROSBEAKS, and GRAY JAY among the birds at the camp feeders.

An adult BALD EAGLE was seen on the ground by the roadside south of Highway 1 near Thief River Falls in Pennignton County on Dec. 13th.

Other birds reported from the Northwest this week included WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL and HARRIS'S SPARROW. A pair of RING-NECKED PHEASANTS were seen north of Argyle.
