From Lake of the Woods County, Gretchen Mehmel reports a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER working on a dead tree in a red pine plantation along the south side of the Faunce-Butterfield road about 9 miles east of Norris Camp.

In Marshall County , Mary Broten at Old Mill State Park says that she is still seeing lots of BALTIMORE ORIOLES and YELLOW WARBLERS at the park. A RED-TAILED HAWK that couldn't fly was transferred to the Raptor Center on August 25, but no report on its status has been received yet.

A GREAT EGRET was discovered flying along the Thief River in Pennington County on Sunday, September 8th, and more than 300 RUDDY DUCKS were at the Thief River sewage lagoons on that day. Other birds discovered there were EARED GREBE, DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, MALLARD, GADWALL, NORTHERN SHOVELER, BLUE-WINGED TEAL, FRANKLIN'S GULL, and RING-BILLED GULL.
