This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, July 24th, 2003, sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

This week, Janet Riegle reported eight species of migrating shorebirds at 40th Ave West, including 12 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 4 STILT SANDPIPERS, 5 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, 1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS, LEAST SANDPIPER, and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER.

Lynelle Hansen reported 26 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS at Wisconsin Point on the 20th.

Warblers have begun to migrate. The first sure migrants were 2 TENNESSEE WARBLERS in Duluth on the 17th.

The next scheduled update of this report will be in two weeks, on Thursday, August 7th.
