This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday January 17th, 2013.

The BARROW'S GOLDENEYE first found on Christmas Day is still being seen at the Superior Entry of Park Point in Duluth.

A HARLEQUIN DUCK was reported on January 4th at Lock and Dam Number 4 on the Mississippi River and it was still there today. It's best looked for below the dam east of Kellogg in Wabasha County.

Two SNOWY OWLS are being seen in the southwestern corner of Dodge County in the vicinity of 700th Street and 110th Avenue. Both birds tend to move around a bit, so also check the roads to the north and east. On the 15th, Molly Thompson reported a NORTHERN HAWK OWL outside Duluth on Zimmerman Road near its intersection with Jean Duluth Road. Another was seen briefly that same day in Aitkin County along state highway 210 about half a mile east of Tamarack.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE is still at the Ann Lake Campground in Sherburne County. Go south from Orrock on county road 5 for one mile, and then turn east on the Ann Lake Campground Road. Look for the bird at the small parking area on the south side of the road.

And a VARIED THRUSH was in southern Anoka County on the 15th, along White Pine Road just east of its intersection with Oakwood Lane in Lino Lakes.
