The CLARK'S GREBE seen recently from Lake Osakis was reported again by Terry Brashear on August 3rd. Check from the public access at the north end of the lake on the Douglas County - Todd County line

Numerous shorebirds can be found near the town of Empire in Dakota County. Among the species reported were several BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS, plus STILT SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, and SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS. Check the sod farms along county road 66 near Blaine Ave, which is also labeled county road 79. Karl Bardon reported a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE from this area on August 3rd. Additional BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS have been seen at the sod farms along Manning Ave in the eastern portion of the town of Lake Elmo in Washington County, just north of Interstate 94. BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS have been reported from Lac Qui Parle and Big Stone Counties on July 29th and 30th. Ten species of shorebirds have been reported from the Renville sugar beet ponds, including SOLITARY SANDPIPER and STILT SANDPIPER and many WILSON'S PHALAROPE.

On July 30th Ron Selbitschka reported seven LOGGERHEAD SHRIKES from Dakota County. The birds were found along 180th Street between Fischer and Emery Aves.

A SHARP-TAILED SPARROW was seen August 3rd along the Soo Line Trail south of the town of McGregor in Aitkin County.

Craig Mandel found a pair of BLUE GROSBEAKS in Renville County on July 31st, 1.3 miles east of the junction of Renville county roads 12 and 15.
