This is the Minnesota birding report for Wednesday December 29th sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.

A third state record CURVE-BILLED THRASHER has been visiting a feeder in western Minnesota since late November. Anyone interested in seeing this bird can call the MOU hotline for additional information at 612-780-8890.

In extreme southern Cass County, Michael North reported a white-phase GYRFALCON from near his home on December 25th. This was about four miles east of the town of Pillager just south of Minnesota Highway 210. In Minneapolis Nancy Jackson reported both a PEREGRINE FALCON and a PRAIRIE FALCON on December 24th. The Peregrine was seen at the intersection of Hiawatha Ave. and 31st Street, and the Prairie was seen near here at 34th Street.

Two GREAT GRAY OWLS were seen on December 21st near Baudette in Lake of the Woods County. They were seen along county road 5 which runs west from county road 1 about seven miles south of state highway 11. And a NORTHERN HAWK OWL is being seen about a mile west of the town of Biwabik in St. Louis County, near the railroad tracks.

A CAROLINA WREN has been coming to a feeder in St. Louis Park, Hennepin County since the 18th of December. The bird can be seen from the alley behind 3333 Zarthan Ave.

And finally, Ed Jakobs and Amy Proffit had a COMMON GRACKLE visit their Minneapolis feeder on the 25th.
