I found an eastern bluebird and american goldfinch in the same wood =
burning stove pipe a few years ago in Maryland... They were both covered =
in soot... but seemed to make it after they got outside.

I'm afraid my chimney list only includes mutliple starlings, one house
sparrow, and one squirrel.
