Two late species -- Lesser Yellowlegs and Green-winged Teal -- were seen
(and in the case of the Yellowlegs, heard) today (11/7) in the town of
Battle Lake in Otter Tail county as they fed along the shore of the
southwestern corner of West Battle Lake. The stretch of shoreline where
they frequent (seen both late this morning and again this afternoon)
stretches between the Shoreline Caf=E9 (on Hwy 78 just as you leave town
heading north) and nearby Sand Bay Resort in residential Battle Lake.

The birds were first spotted by Gayle (MOU member) and Ruth Beecher of
Battle Lake from their home.

Also of interest, a late American Pipit stopped by and 3 Trumpeter Swans
sounded off as they passed low overhead near the Shoreline Cafe. West
Battle Lake is still wide open though many small nearby ponds are now
frozen. =20
