At 10:30 am today (11/11/03) there were 3 Surf Scoters, 1 adult female, =
2 imms, at Lake Byllesby. They were in sleeping posture during most of 1 =
hour observation period. I eventually got some photos with heads up. =
Best viewed from County park at south end of dam. From Hi 52 in Canon =
Falls, turn west on CR 19 and go 1 mile to County Park entrance and turn =
right (north). The dam will be on your right. The birds first were =
closer to the south shore (Goodhue Co.) but then swam closure to the =
north shore (Dakota Co.). I believe this may be only the second record =
for Dakota Co. Not sure about Goodhue.

Also, on the mudflats at the west end of Lake Byllesby, I found the =
following late shorebirds:

Baird's - 2
Pectoral -1
Am Goldern Plover - 1
Killdeer -2
