On October 18-19th the MOU is sponsoring a two day bird trip to Grand =
Marais in Cook Co.
We are meeting in Duluth on the 18th at the 40th ave. W. Perkin's =
Restaurant at 7:00am in the parking lot. We will then head up the shore =
and stop at numerous bird places along the way.=20
We will be back in Duluth on Sunday the 19th around 3-4 pm at Perkin's =
Restaurant.
Birding up along the northshore in October is a ton of fun! The =
potential of finding something odd is always there at each birding stop. =
I do expect to find scoters, long-tail ducks, thayer's gull, a few =
shorebirds, and there still some migrants to be be found. Hopefully =
birds like the winter finches and bohemian waxwings will be around.
Some rarities like red-throated loons, pacific loons, kittiwake, =
harlequin duck, varied thrush and townsend solitaires have been =
reported in October several times along the northshore. So you never =
know what to expect which makes the northshore in late fall worth =
visiting.
