This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday January 8th.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD continues to be seen in Grand Marais, Cook 
County, near the junction of 3rd and 4th streets. Various flocks of 
BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS are also being seen in town.

On January 3rd, Blaine Seeliger reported a SPRUCE GROUSE about five 
miles north of Lake County Road 15 on Lake County Road 2. He also 
found a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER on St. Louis County Road 133 two and 
a half miles east of St. Louis County Road 7 in Sax Zim.

The HARLEQUIN DUCK in Two Harbors, Lake County, was seen as recently 
as the 5th and the Harlequin Duck at the French River near Duluth was 
last reported on the 2nd.

Two GREAT GRAY OWLS were seen over the weekend in Aitkin County, a 
tenth of a mile west of the junction of County Road 18 and Pietz's 
Road. A Great Gray Owl has been seen in the Sax-Zim Bog as well, 
along St. Louis County Road 133 a mile and a half west of U.S. 
Highway 53.

A CAROLINA WREN is still being seen in western Ramsey County. It was 
seen in the backyard at a suet feeder on the 100 block of Stinson 
Blvd, New Brighton, just north of Ramsey County Road E.

On the 3rd, the LONG-TAILED DUCK was still on the St. Croix River at 
Pt. Douglas, Washington County.
