Paul & Dennis,
    They appeared to be only slightly smaller than the nearby Cardinal. I
thought the beak looked more substantial than a finch's. However, I can see
that Purple Finch would be a more likely ID. With this in mind I will go
home and
watch some more. What is the earliest record for Baltimore Oriole?
