I was at Park Point today and saw a immature Red-throated Loon. This is =
no doubt the same bird Peder Svingen and I found on Monday evening. The =
loon was last seen straight out from the airport bldgs on Lake Superior.
On herding Island I counted at least 300 Bonaparte Gulls and about 50 =
Common Terns.=20
At Indian Pt. campground on the west side of the loop trail I found a =
Grey-cheeked Thrush. I also found a singing Marsh Wren on the east side =
of the loop trail in the cattails.=20
The warbler migration is poor in Duluth and anywhere along the river or =
Lake Superior because its so cold out and the insects are just not =
around for them to feed on. I am sure there is a few warblers moving =
around but I have not witness any large waves of warblers. The temps =
today are in the 40's and at night we dip into the upper 30's! The only =
decent movement are the sparrows as most feeders in good numbers. As =
soon as Duluth gets a warm day the flood gates will open and birds will =
be pouring into Duluth. At least I hope so.
