Ben Yokel and I both saw Sandhill Cranes flying over highway 53 (St Louis County) this morning. They were observed between mile markers 48 and 55. Ben saw a group of about 8 over Half Moon Lake (near exit for Hibbing/hwy 37) I saw a single individual flying over the highway at mile marker 48. It was approximately 7:40AM. Too early for the hawkowls. They seem to sleep in until after 8AM. Karen Sussman
