This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, December 1st.

Unusual was the unidentified IBIS seen November 20th and 24th on  
Spring Lake in Dakota County. According to the observer, you would  
need to be in a boat in order to see the bird, which was to the left  
and behind the island near the boat ramp.

On November 29th, Deanne Endrizzi found a SNOWY OWL at the  
Minneapolis / St. Paul airport near the newest runway. On the 24th, a  
Snowy Owl was found by Brad Bolduan just north of New Germany on the  
west side of Carver County Road 33 about a mile south of state  
highway 7. Bill Tefft found one on the east side of St. Louis County  
Road 7 on the 27th, about four and a half miles south of the Stone  
Lake Road. Bob Myers found a Snowy Owl along State Highway 61 near  
Silver Bay in Cook County on the 25th, about a half mile east of the  
Silver Bay Marina. On the 25th, Jim and Sharon Lind found a Snowy Owl  
along Lake County Road 3, three and a half miles west of Lake County  
Road 4. Another Snowy Owl was reported from near the town of  
Henderson on the 28th, but there was no word as to whether this was  
in Le Sueur, Sibley, or Scott county. I also have secondhand reports  
of Snowy Owls in Kandiyohi County, Fillmore County, and Albert Lea  
Lake in Freeborn County.

Cindy Risen found a GREAT GRAY OWL on December 1st along Kestrel  
Avenue about five miles north of Tamarack in Aitkin County.

At Black Dog Lake in Dakota County, Jim Mattsson reported an adult  
GLAUCOUS GULL on November 30th, and at Point Douglas Park in  
Washington County he found a SURF SCOTER on December 1st.

Somewhat late was the YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER seen by Rick Pertilly  
on the 27th in south Minneapolis, near I-394 and Penn Avenue.

Leslie Kottke still has a CAROLINA WREN visiting her home in St.  
Paul, Ramsey County.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was reported from Ann Lake in Sherburne County  
on December 1st, though no specific directions were given.

In Wadena County, a VARIED THRUSH has been visiting the home of Joe  
Clark near the town of Park Rapids. Birders are welcome to visit if
