Saw the following:
-20+ Rough-legged Hawks
-Great Horned Owl "artic race"
-Northern Shrike
-Black-backed Woodpecker (McDavitt Rd.)
-Boreal Chickadee
-Black-billed Magpie
-Crossbill species ( seen medium size birds fly off a spruce tree)
-Pine Grosbeaks
NO Snowy Owls, Hawk Owls and Great Gray Owls. Last year at this time =
the Great Gray Owls were staging all over Sax Zim and so far NO signs =
anywhere in northern Minesota, Manitoba or Ontario of Great Gray Owls. =
It maybe a little early to predict this but I feel this year there might =
not be a echo irruption as predicted for Great Gray Owls. Maybe it has =
to do with the lack of snow fall ??=20
Yesterday I was searching around the grain elevators in Duluth and could =
not locate any Snowy Owls anywhere. I also feel this is not going to be =
a good year for Redpolls as I did not see one flock of Redpolls anywhere =
in the bog.
