Since 1934, sales of Federal Duck Stamps to hunters, stamp
collectors and other conservationists have raised more than $700 million
that has been used to acquire more than 5.2 million acres of habitat for
the National Wildlife Refuge System.

The Nature Conservancy has protected more than 117 million acres
of land and 5,000 miles of river around the world.

That's a ratio of greater than 22:1 in favor of The Nature Conservancy
(founded in 1951), and those 117 million acres were selected because
they contain rare and endangered species and ecosystems, not because
they provide hunting opportunities.

I'm not anti-hunting, but I think we should be getting this message out
(and increasing our contributions to TNC, Audubon, etc.) instead of
engaging in all of this hand-wringing and giving hunters all of the
credit.
