This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, December 29th.

The immature BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was still present at Black Dog =20
Lake in Dakota County on December 24th. It has been seen at both the =20
western outlet near I-35W along Black Dog Road and at the inlet to =20
the east of the power plant.

An adult GYRFALCON was reported by Peder Svingen on the 29th on the =20
harbor ice out from the Park Point recreation area in Duluth. On the =20
25th, Jim Mattsson found an adult Gyrfalcon near mile marker 216 of =20
state highway 55 just west of Hastings in Dakota County. Since then, =20
several birders have relocated it in the same general area.

Two male HARLEQUIN DUCKS were in Grand Marais, Cook County, on the =20
24th. One was off Artist Point and the other was in the slip behind =20
the North House Folk School.

Dave Grosshuesch found a NORTHERN HAWK OWL on the 28th at the =20
junction of Lake County Road 2 and Forest Highway 11, and a GREAT =20
GRAY OWL on the Stoney River Forest Road, about three miles north of =20
Forest Highway 11. Tim and Nancy Grimes relocated a Northern Hawk Owl =20=

on the 27th at the junction of Stone Lake Road and St. Louis County =20
Road 7 in the Sax-Zim bog. Also in the bog, Greg Seegert found a =20
Great Gray Owl on the 25th on McDavitt Road, three miles north of Sax =20=

Road. Greg also relocated the SNOWY OWL along Aitkin County Road 16 =20
just south of Tamarack. John Ellis reported a Northern Hawk Owl in =20
Aitkin County on the 27th at mile marker 184 of Minnesota Highway =20
200, west of the Rabey Management Area, and a Great Gray Owl along =20
state highway 65 about a quarter of a mile north of Kanabec County =20
Road 25. Karen Sussman found a Snowy Owl on the 26th along U.S. =20
Highway 53 about halfway between mile markers 46 and 47, and about =20
eight miles north of Cotton. And as many as three Snowy Owls have =20
been seen at the Minneapolis / St. Paul airport, especially in the =20
vicinity of Cargo Road.

A TOWNSEND=92S SOLITAIRE was reported by Randy Frederickson on the 19th =20=

in Sibley State Park, Kandiyohi County behind the Interpretive Center.

Thanks also to Matt Shutte, Paul Budde, Chris Benson, and Jim Lind.

The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, Janurary 5th.
