On Feb. 25, a Dark-eyed Junco was trapped at Carpenter Nature Center along the St. Croix River. The junco was banded on 2/6/98 and classified as After Hatching Year. Assume it was born in summer of 97, the bird has made 8 round trips from nesting area to wintering area and back again. The same bird was captured 11/24/00, 11/2/01, 3/7/03, 11/14/03 and 2/25/05 all at Carpenter Nature Center. The longevity record for this bird is 11 years, 1 month.
