I spoke with a birder who is down at Prairie Island in Winona
and he told me that Bob Ekblad and Jeff Stephenson relocated
the Eurasian Wigeon this morning. From what I understand they
were the only people to see it before it flew off towards the main
channel of the Mississippi River.
Many birders including myself searched yesterday until dark and
were not able to find it then so the bird must be moving around.
To get to Prairie Island in Winona go to the junction of US 14 and US =
61.
Turn east at the stoplight, go through the stop sign (stop first!) and =
continue
around the curve. turn left at Prairie Island road, it's well marked.
After turning left continue on this road past the spillway.
Verchota Landing is past the spillway where the road bends back
to the left again...
