Well, I've gotten good responses so far. Again, this is not meant to be
scientific. It would simply be fun to find Chuck-Will's Widows in
Minnesota, and after several calling birds less than 15 miles from Houston
County last summer, it seems possible that we could find them this Spring.

All you need to do:

Get a Delorme's Atlas or Houston County Map, and select a township that
hasn't been selected yet.

Agree to drive all public roads in that township during dusk/nighttime hours
between 5/15 & 6/30.

Learn to distinguish the call of a Whip-Poor-Will and Chuk-Will's-Widow.

Things that are totally up to you:

How often you stop.
How long you stop for.
Whether or not you play tapes.
How many nights it takes to drive all roads - I would guess each Twp. would
take 15 hours, but I really have no idea!

So far we have 7 people agreed, and 2 more are possibles. If you have
agreed to help, but haven't selected a township let me know which township
you'd prefer.

Townships taken:

Money Creek
Sheldon
Caledonia
Crooked Creek
Winnebago
Jefferson

Townships available:

Houston
Mound Prairie
La Crescent
Hokah
Brownsville
Mayville
Union
Wilmington
Spring Grove
Black Hammer
Yucatan

Fun! Fun! Fun!
Thanks for your interest.
