On Monday, May 2nd I took my annual spring outing in the Cities to see how
many species of birds I can see in one day. I only had 49 positive visual
identifications. What was unusual was not so much what I saw but what I
didn't see. I only saw two warblers. Not two species, just two individual
Yellow-Rumps. Most interesting in the Bass Ponds/Old Cedar area were a
Gadwall, an Osprey, a 2-yr Bald Eagle, a Northern Shoveler and what I
believe was a Greater Scaup.
