While you're in the neighborhood...
Check out the new boardwalk in Big Bog State Park!
Located 12 miles north of Waskish on Upper Red Lake.
When completed it will be the longest bog boardwalk in the country. The
walkway utilizes a unique new design that allows more light to filter to
the environment directly under the walk. The trail lies within the
largest contiguous peat bog in the lower 48 states. Here you will find
an unequaled opportunity to view the endemic orchids, moses, sedges and
carnivorous plants of this sensitive habitat. Most Orchids will bloom a
little later in June but now is the best time to look for elusive
Connecticut Warblers and Black-backed Woodpecker.
