Ovenbirds and chestnut-sided warblers have begun this past week territorialy carving up the backyard woods in earnest, and i think veeries and common yellowthroats just now started this weekend. should be more species any minute now. These join the woodpeckers, sparrows, and others that have been here a while. Sadly, the pileated woodpecker nest didn't make it. Birds haven't been around for a couple of days, and the nest tree area is quiet. It was fun watching them. I have no idea what the siskins are up to but they've been here since winter. Anyway, it's exciting to see these migrants coming in, one by one, to set up their summer homes.
