Five participants and myself toured around the Duluth area, on
beautiful fall day (it felt more like summer). The lackluster
migration prevented us from amassing any astounding totals, but we put
59 species on the board, including 4 American White Pelicans and a
Philadelphia Vireo.

Weather conditions (strong winds off the lake) prevented discovering
waves of migrants at the usual traps along the Northshore.
Nonetheless, the day was quite enjoyable. We spent some time in the
late afternoon on Park Point hoping for one of the multitude of
reported rarities to soar by. None ever did.

The next MOU trip is October 15-16 and will tour up the North Shore to
Grand Marais, where we will overnight in Grand Marais on Saturday,
then returning on Sunday. I'll send out an email two weeks ahead of
time with more details and information, but if you'd like to sign up
now, feel free to drop me an email.

Good Birding!
