Today (Sept. 18th) visited Jirik sod farms. They are being reseeded and those
fields are bare of birds, as were the ones with sod still intact. There is one
large field that has been disked in preparation for final grading and seeding,
along highway 66 (or 200th St/Ave??). It looked empty, but a closer look
revealed 20 or so American golden plovers, one buff-breasted sandpiper. and
the ubiquitous killdeer.
There were
probably other birds out there as well, but all were lying down taking an
afternoon snooze. After this field gets graded and seeded it might be tough to
find birds here.
