Hello:

Winds were 10-15 mph. from the NE on Lake Superior today and those kinds =
of winds are ideal for jaeger/gull and other artic bird watching.

Highlights:

** Black-headed Gull (adult winter plumage) was found by Kim Risen along =
Park Pt. near the bath house seen flying towards the Canal Park =
district. Tom Auer found it about 30-45 minutes later from Lafayette =
Square flying with some Bonaparte's Gull out from Canal Park. The Gull =
was later seen by Terry Brashear about 2 hours later on Lake Superior =
opposite of the airport buildings. This was the last known sighting as =
of today. Hopefully it will stick around for a few more days. There were =
many local/visiting birders trying very hard to find this gull all day.

** A group of us spotted two jaegers doing some Ariel displaying at each =
other on Lake Superior near the airport. The jaegers eventually flew =
right over us and we notice that one jaeger was 30% smaller than the =
larger jaeger. The larger jaeger was identified as a adult Parasitic =
Jaeger because the central retrices were about 3-4 inches beyond the =
main part of the tail and tips of the central retrices came to a sharp =
point. Other field marks were seen as well. The smaller one was left as =
unidentified.

* Black Scoters  (6)
* Surf Scoters (2)
* White-wing Scoter (1)=20

** Artic Tern was seen at Lafayette Square on 31 street. This was seen =
mid morning fairly close to the beach. Several local and visiting =
birders were able to see this tern.

** A probable California Gull was seen and photographed by Terry and =
another birder. This gull was seen on the beach between the bath house =
and the airport buildings. It was last seen flying towards Canal Park. =
Again hopefully this gull will be refound again so others can see it as =
well.

** Sabine Gull (juv) was seen mid morning at WI Pt. by WI birders. They =
also seen 2-3 jaeger species at the Superior Entry.
