Autumn Migration Birding Festival

Fantastic Birding in a Spectacular Setting

  October 27-29, 2006

************************

Plans for the 2006 Autumn Migration Birding Festival in Grand Marais,
Minnesota are rapidly coming together. This year's festival will be the 6th
annual. Fall generates an inspiring array of migratory birds on the North
Shore - over 135 bird species have been spotted during the event's history!

Recently, a completely new web site was developed to help potential
participants understand the array of opportunities that are included during
the three-day experience. Naturally, morning field trips led be highly
experienced birders are at the festival's core. Trips explore the Lake
Superior shoreline along the entire length of the Sawtooth Mountains up to
the Canadian border at Grand Portage.

Complementing morning field trips are two afternoon workshops (including
"Demystifying Dragonflies" and "Fire Ecology - The Cavity Lake Fire") as
well as two featured evening programs. "Buildings of Log and Stone" with
Dave Benson will be hosted at the Betsy Bowen Gallery Friday evening.
Saturday evenings featured speaker will be announced shortly.

Complete details regarding this year's festival, a listing of bird species
and a printable registration form are all available on-line:

Complete printed information is also available - info@northhouse.org or

The Autumn Migration Birding Festival is hosted by North House Folk School,
an educational nonprofit, in cooperation with the US Forest Service. To
