I could tell this was going to be a good day after all the good reports! =
I went birding near my pond (again!) in Golden Valley. First, I saw a =
BROAD-WINGED HAWK soaring over the pond briefly. Then, I saw two female =
HOODED MERGANSERS (the 3 PIED-BILLED GREBES were still present, also =
some male Wood ducks.) Then, I birded at the much-smaller pond on the =
corner of Western Ave and New Hampshire. I relocated the Broad-winged =
Hawk as it got mobbed by several R-W Blackbirds into the cattails and =
retreated into a tree. Also, I saw a single SOLITARY SANDPIPER on a =
floating log in the middle of the pond. I also saw six Canada goslings. =
Very exciting day! Good birding to all~
