There was 1 Snowy Egret and 7 Cattle Egret in Carver County at 1:30 pm today.
They were in a marsh that intersects in the corner of MN highway 5 and Carver
CR 30 just east of Waconia. There were 3 Cattle Egret on the southern edges
of the marsh when I arrived, and they were best viewed from the first gravel road
east of CR 30. After watching them for awhile on the grassy edges to my surprise
a Snowy Egret walked out and joined them. They flew off one by one over to the
east edge of the marsh up behind the farmers yard, and joined 4 more Cattle Egret.
There was ponding water in these fields and 20 Caspian Terns were at rest here
as well. This area may be out of view from MN highway 5, so check the fields east
of the marsh behind the farm lot.
