Sunday evening from 7:00-7:30 I observed 2 Ruddy Turnstones at Lake Byllesby.
From the west end they were in the general area of the spit where the
American White Pelicans roost. There was precious little else - 2 Dunlin, 30
Bonaparte's Gulls, Caspian Terns, a couple of sandpipers, ...ducks.
Earlier in the day I birded Lake Elmo Park. I saw my 1st Common Nighthawk
flying over Eagle Point lake. While I can count the individual warblers I saw
on one hand, I had great looks at a male Magnolia Warbler. OK, two hands:
Ovenbird, Common Yellowthroat, Nashville, Palm and YR Warblers. Also one
Blue-headed Vireo. Every swallow and martin were scouring the water's surface.
