For you "year listers" both blue-winged and a few cerulean warblers are back
singing on territory at Murphy Hanrehan Park. Directions are difficult to give
for the ceruleans, but the blue-winged are pretty much everywhere. Just walk
till you hear their buzzy call. Ceruleans are tougher to see because they like
tree-top perches and the trees are leafed out. Park at the main trailhead and
walk the loop that starts along the shore of the lake. If you've never been
there before, get a map and take a compass. It's easy to get lost (for a while)
At Murphy Hanrehan, which is why a lot of birders stay out of this woods.
