Just a quick note to let people know the Prothonotary Warbler was still at
Ft. Snelling State Park as of 6:30 p.m. May 17. Thanks to a heads up from Doug
K. I went to the spot where he was foraging. When he flew into a tree, I
saw a second Prothonotary Warbler - both were males. From the parking lot at
the visitors center, take the path at the bottom of the lot as it goes towards
the river. Turn right and go under the bridge. I saw him to the right of
the path, 38 Linda steps past the orange and white buried cable post. When I
checked Tuesday for him I saw another birder who had heard him singing to the
left of the path from the parking lot.
I only saw Yellow-rumped and one Palm Warbler Tuesday night at the park. No
other warblers Wednesday night. One male Indigo Bunting in the parking lot
itself.
