Hello Birders,
I joined Thomas Maiello and Judith Sparrow on an afternoon expedition to
Hok-Si-La park and Lake Byllesby flats. Our goal was to focus on warblers
and shorebirds. We did better with the former than the latter, but overall
we had a very good day.

1-5 pm, Hok-Si-La: 12 warbler species total, including
Tennessee
Yellow
Chestnut-sided
Magnolia
Cape May
Yellow rump
Palm
Bay-breasted (female)
Blackpoll
Black & White (in same tree as Blackpoll!)
Am. Redstart
Wilson's

Also seen (of interest):
Yellow-throated Vireo
Immature Bald Eagle
Purple Martin
Pileated Woodpecker
Numerous Baltimore Orioles

Arriving at Byllesby about 6pm, we saw Steve Weston and
Am. Pelican - large flock
Caspian tern
Forster's tern
Dunlin (over 200 by Steve's count)
Hudsonian Godwit
Semipalmated Plover
Spotted Sandpiper
Lesser Yellowlegs
Killdeer
Warbling Vireo
R.T. Hummingbird

All the above warblers plus
C. Yellowthroat
Cape May (male)
Pine (female)

Plus many other usual suspects, 68 species in total plus a few seen but not
heard. A great time was had by all!
